A stable milestone is a browser release marker that identifies a scheduled version in the Stable channel. In Chrome, milestones are used to organize the product’s release cadence and track which fixes belong to which update stream. They are not a vulnerability severity label and do not mean a bug is more or less dangerous on their own.
This term matters in cyber security because defenders and attackers both watch release timing. Security teams use milestones to verify which fixes are included, measure patch coverage, and manage rollout risk. Attackers use the same information to estimate when a known flaw may still be present on unpatched systems, creating a short window for exploitation. In practice, stable milestones help security teams coordinate triage, testing, and deployment around a predictable update cycle.
