Sheet of paper

a flat paper base that can be transformed into different shapes.

A sheet of paper is a flat physical medium that can be folded, cut, printed, or written on to become labels, forms, notes, or other shaped objects. In cyber security, paper matters because not every attack or defense is purely digital: attackers may use printed phishing lures, fake invoices, QR codes, or stolen paperwork, while defenders may rely on paper for offline procedures, recovery codes, and incident checklists.

Paper is also a security boundary problem. Sensitive printouts, whiteboard notes, and discarded documents can expose passwords, network details, or personal data if they are not handled carefully. Good practice includes least-printing, secure storage, clean desks, and shredding. In that sense, a sheet of paper is simple, but it can still carry high-value information and influence real-world security outcomes.
