Service infrastructure

The web, hosting, and domain systems that cybercriminals use to deliver and maintain an operation.

Service infrastructure is the collection of web, hosting, and domain systems used to run an online operation. In cybercrime, this can include domains, servers, redirects, and hosted pages that deliver phishing lures, collect credentials, or support fraud services.

It matters because campaigns depend on these systems being available: defenders can disrupt them by blocking domains, taking down hosting, or obtaining legal control of domains and replacing malicious sites with warning pages. Such actions can interrupt access, but they may not remove every server or account; operators can switch providers or create replacement domains. Defenders therefore monitor infrastructure alongside messages and malware, and treat a takedown as a disruption rather than proof that an operation has ended.
