Real-time monitoring is continuous observation of systems, networks, or radio activity so defenders can detect abnormal behavior as it happens. Instead of checking only after an incident, monitoring tools collect live telemetry, compare it against expected patterns, and alert when something looks unusual. In cyber security, this reduces the time between compromise and response.
It matters because many attacks succeed by staying unnoticed long enough to disrupt service, steal data, or change system behavior. Real-time monitoring can reveal brute-force attempts, unauthorized logins, packet floods, configuration changes, or radio-frequency interference before they become major outages. In critical infrastructure, it also helps separate accidental faults from hostile activity, giving operators time to classify the risk and act quickly. Good monitoring does not stop every attack, but it makes fast containment and better decisions possible.
