Quote-to-revenue

The business process that turns a quote into an approved sale, contract, and downstream billing activity.

Quote-to-revenue is the business and software workflow that converts a sales quote into an approved order, contract, and billing activity. It often spans pricing engines, approval rules, discount controls, guided selling, contract generation, and handoff to invoicing or revenue recognition systems.

In cyber security, quote-to-revenue matters because it is a control plane for money. A small change to pricing thresholds, approval logic, or billing integration can alter who gets discounts, what is approved, and what gets invoiced. Attackers may target these systems to manipulate revenue, bypass approvals, or hide fraudulent terms. Defenders protect them with least privilege, strong authentication, audit logs, change management, and rollback. When AI or automation is added, the key risk is write access: tools should draft changes, but production updates should require explicit approval and clear scope.
