A provisioning tool is software used to activate, modify, suspend, or remove customer services. In telecom and other subscription environments, it often sits near billing, identity, and service-delivery systems, so a single action can change what a customer can access in real time.
In cyber security, provisioning tools are sensitive because they can affect both data and operations. An attacker who gains access may be able to disable services, reroute accounts, create fraudulent changes, or use the interface as leverage in extortion. Defenders treat these tools as critical infrastructure by enforcing strong authentication, role-based access, segmentation, and detailed logging of every entitlement change.
