Pressure is the force a gas or vapor applies to a surface. In mechanical systems, it is one of the main variables that makes devices move, open, close, lift, or release energy. Examples include steam valves, pneumatics, compressors, and hydraulic controls, where the right pressure range is required for safe operation.
In cyber security, pressure matters because many industrial and physical systems report it through sensors connected to controllers and monitoring software. If an attacker spoofs pressure readings, changes setpoints, or disables alarms, the result can be faulty automation, damage, or unsafe conditions. Defenders protect these systems with authenticated telemetry, redundant sensors, tight threshold checks, and interlocks that fail safely when pressure values look inconsistent or impossible.
