Post-release monitoring

Ongoing review after deployment to detect new failures, misuse, or changes in behavior.

Post-release monitoring is the ongoing observation of a system after it has been deployed. It helps teams detect failures, misuse, security issues, or changes in behavior that were not visible during pre-release testing. In AI systems, this can include reviewing user reports, analyzing outputs and tool activity, and checking whether updates or new integrations alter risk.

Monitoring matters because tests cover only the conditions examined before launch, while real deployments encounter changing users, prompts, data, and workflows. Security teams can use defined metrics, alert thresholds, incident reporting, and a process for investigating and responding to findings. Monitoring does not guarantee safety, but it provides evidence to revisit assumptions, apply mitigations, or restrict a system when needed.
