Plurality voting

A decision method where the option with the most votes wins, even without a majority.

Plurality voting is a decision method where the option with the most votes wins, even if it does not have an absolute majority. In cyber security, this matters when malware, automation, or defensive systems combine multiple inputs and choose the top-ranked result rather than requiring unanimous agreement.

In the context of malware, plurality voting can be used to let several AI models suggest the next action and then pick the model output that appears most supported. That can make behavior look less like a single hardcoded command-and-control path and more like a distributed decision process. For defenders, the key takeaway is that unusual AI service calls, model outputs, and endpoint actions should be analyzed together. A plurality rule may help an attacker automate choices, but it can also leave traces that reveal how the malware is making decisions.
