Perspective projection

A method that maps 3D points onto a 2D screen while preserving depth cues.

Perspective projection is the math that maps 3D coordinates onto a 2D screen while keeping depth cues such as relative size, foreshortening, and vanishing points. In a renderer, it turns points, polygons, and camera positions into pixels that look natural to the eye. The result is not a literal copy of the scene; it is an engineered view built from field of vision, clipping, and depth rules.

In cyber security, this matters whenever software must display or trust visual geometry. Attackers can abuse 3D rendering and camera tricks to make interfaces look legitimate, conceal objects, or mislead users in games, simulations, AR, and remote desktops. Defenders use the same projection logic in visualization tools, digital forensics, and 3D asset inspection to spot tampering or verify what was actually on screen. Understanding perspective projection helps security teams separate what the system knows from what the viewer is being shown.
