A penetration-testing framework is a collection of tools and workflows for assessing systems for security weaknesses. It can support tasks such as discovering exposed services, checking configurations, and organizing test results. Use must be authorized and limited to systems within the approved scope.
Security teams use frameworks to make assessments more consistent and efficient. In real attacks, the same capabilities can be misused to automate probing or pursue weaknesses at scale. Frameworks do not establish that a system was compromised: defenders should verify scope, review activity logs, and investigate evidence before drawing conclusions.
