Because these systems handle money and sensitive transaction data, attackers may target them to disrupt payments, steal information, or gain access to connected environments. Network configurations, architecture details, and valid credentials can help attackers understand or reach payment workflows. Defenders reduce risk by protecting and rotating secrets, limiting access, segmenting networks, and monitoring payment-related systems. A claim that such information was exposed should be verified; the presence of a claim alone does not establish a breach.
