Partner integrations are technical connections that let separate organizations or systems exchange data or provide services. They can include shared accounts, APIs, remote support tools, and links between business or operational networks.
These connections can increase exposure when access is broader than necessary, credentials are weak or reused, or a partner’s systems are compromised. Attackers may abuse trusted access to enter another environment or move between connected systems. Defenders can reduce risk by limiting permissions, using strong authentication, monitoring partner access, reviewing integrations regularly, and having a process to revoke access quickly. A mention of partner integrations as a risk does not, by itself, establish that any specific connection was exploited.
