An operating band is the range of frequencies a radio device is designed to use. It defines where the device can transmit, receive, or both, and it usually reflects limits set by the hardware, filters, antenna design, and regulatory rules.
In cyber security, the operating band matters because many attacks and defenses depend on wireless signals. If an attacker uses a device in the wrong band, the signal may be weak, unstable, or completely ignored. Defenders also use band awareness to detect unauthorized transmissions, spot interference, and verify that equipment is behaving as expected. In real systems, mismatched bands can break communication, reduce range, or expose a network to jamming and spoofing attempts. For radio builds and security testing alike, knowing the operating band is a basic part of validating whether a device can safely and effectively operate in its intended environment.
