Offline data

outcomes that occur outside web analytics, such as store sales or signed contracts.

Offline data is information that exists outside a live web analytics or real-time monitoring pipeline. It may be stored in exported files, backup archives, point-of-sale systems, CRM databases, or signed contract records. Because it is not generated by the browser or streamed directly into a dashboard, it can be missed by tools that only watch online activity.

In cyber security, offline data matters because attackers and defenders both depend on it. Security teams often need offline records to reconstruct events, verify access, or detect fraud that never appeared in web logs. If offline systems are not ingested, correlated, or protected well, they create blind spots that can hide suspicious behavior, weaken incident response, and distort attribution. Good security programs treat offline data as part of the full evidence chain, not as separate background records.
