Metabase is an open-source business intelligence platform that lets teams query, analyze, and visualize data through dashboards and reports. It typically sits between users and one or more backend databases, making it a convenient analytics layer and, in many deployments, a high-trust part of the environment.
In cyber security, that trust makes Metabase important because a flaw in the application can expose more than charts. If an attacker abuses a weakness such as SQL injection, they may be able to manipulate queries, reach metadata, access sensitive records, or even gain control over administrative functions depending on how the instance is configured. Defenders reduce risk by patching quickly, restricting network exposure, and using least-privilege database accounts so a compromise of the platform cannot automatically become a compromise of the underlying data systems.
