MariaDB Connector/C

The official C/C++ client library used by applications to connect to MariaDB.

MariaDB Connector/C is the official C and C++ client library used by applications to connect to MariaDB databases. It is more than a simple network wrapper: it handles connection setup, authentication, option parsing, and transport negotiation between an app and the database server.

That makes the connector security-relevant. If it contains a flaw, attackers may target application-side code even when the database server itself is patched. Weak plugin handling, unsafe privilege assumptions, or insecure transport settings can widen the impact to unauthorized access, credential exposure, or in some cases code execution. Defenders should track connector versions alongside server versions, review configuration files and authentication plugins, and enforce encrypted connections with TLS. In practice, MariaDB Connector/C sits on the attack surface between software and data, so patching only the server can leave a critical gap open.
