Lossless audio is a recording or stream that preserves the original signal without the irreversible compression used by lossy formats such as MP3 or AAC. It usually has a larger file size, but it keeps more detail and avoids the artifacts that can appear after heavy compression.
In cyber security, lossless audio matters because media files often move through account controls, download systems, and integrity checks. Defenders may prefer lossless masters when verifying that a file has not been altered, since re-encoding is not part of playback. Attackers can also abuse large media files or audio containers to disguise unwanted data, move payloads through filters, or hide steganographic content. For platforms that offer premium tiers, lossless playback is also a useful signal of whether the right entitlement, device support, and stream settings are in place.
