liburing

A helper library that simplifies working with io_uring from user space.

liburing is a user-space helper library for Linux io_uring. It wraps the kernel interface with simpler functions for setting up submission and completion queues, preparing requests, and reading results. Instead of manually handling low-level structures and syscalls, applications can use liburing to implement fast asynchronous I/O with less boilerplate.

In cyber security, liburing matters because it sits close to a powerful kernel feature that is increasingly used in both legitimate software and stealthy tooling. Defenders may see liburing in high-performance servers, backup tools, or file processors, so its presence is not suspicious by itself. But attackers can also use liburing to blend into normal system activity, accelerate file access, or interact with io_uring in ways that are harder to spot than classic I/O patterns. Monitoring unusual async I/O behavior, library loading, and process activity around io_uring helps distinguish normal use from abuse.
