LEA means Livelli Essenziali di Assistenza, the essential level of care a health system must guarantee to every patient. It is not a single service, but a legal baseline that defines which treatments, visits, and digital services must remain available. In practice, if telemedicine, booking platforms, or health records are part of LEA delivery, they must work consistently across regions and providers.
For cyber security, LEA matters because availability and data integrity become critical. A ransomware attack, identity theft, outage, or misconfigured access control can interrupt appointments, delay care pathways, or block access to records. Defenses should therefore include strong authentication, network segmentation, backups, disaster recovery, logging, and tested continuity plans. When LEA services are digital, security is not optional support: it is part of the guarantee itself.
