Interactive analysis

A sandbox workflow that lets an analyst click, type, or otherwise interact with a live sample session.

Interactive analysis is a sandbox workflow in which an analyst actively uses a live malware session by clicking, typing, opening files, or following prompts. Instead of waiting only for automated detonation, the analyst helps drive the sample through code paths that depend on user behavior, timing, or specific inputs.

This matters because many threats use sandbox evasion. A sample may stay quiet until it sees mouse activity, document interaction, form entry, or other signs of a real user. Interactive analysis can expose dropped files, command execution, network callbacks, and credential-stealing prompts that a fully automated run might miss. Defenders use it to improve visibility, confirm intent, and collect stronger indicators for triage and response. In practice, it is most useful when malware is behavior-gated and needs a human touch to reveal its payload.
