An interaction prompt is a visible cue in a user interface that tells a person an action is available, such as “Press E to open” or a highlighted button. It guides the user toward the next valid step and reduces guesswork in menus, games, and software workflows.
In cyber security, interaction prompts matter because they can reveal how a system is designed and where a user is expected to act. In leaked or pre-release builds, prompts may expose unfinished features, hidden functions, or internal state changes. Attackers can also imitate prompts in phishing pages, malware pop-ups, or UI-redress attacks to trick users into clicking, approving, or entering data. Defenders try to make prompts clear, consistent, and hard to spoof, especially for sensitive actions like granting access, approving payments, or enabling permissions.
