Integration specialist

a company focused on connecting separate technologies, systems, or suppliers into one working solution.

An integration specialist is a company or team that connects separate technologies, platforms, suppliers, or workflows into one working solution. In practice, it bridges hardware, software, cloud services, and third-party components so they operate together reliably.

In cyber security, integration specialists matter because they often sit in the middle of sensitive data flows and privileged connections. Their work can improve defense by unifying identity, logging, access control, and monitoring across many systems. But the same position also creates risk: a weak integration, exposed API, or compromised supplier account can become an entry point for attackers and a path for lateral movement across connected environments. For that reason, security reviews, least-privilege access, and strong change control are critical when an integrator is part of the supply chain.
