An information sharing and analysis center (ISAC) is a sector-focused organization where member organizations share cybersecurity threat intelligence and defensive guidance. ISACs help participants identify relevant risks, exchange indicators of compromise, and learn from one another’s security observations.
In cyber defense, timely sharing can help organizations recognize phishing campaigns, malicious infrastructure, or emerging vulnerabilities and coordinate responses. A healthcare ISAC, for example, can circulate alerts relevant to healthcare organizations. Shared intelligence supports decisions such as blocking suspicious domains or strengthening identity controls, but it does not by itself prove that a particular organization was compromised.
