Hypercare is the short stabilization period immediately after a new system, platform, or major change goes live. During this phase, support teams monitor the environment more closely, respond faster than usual, and fix early defects, configuration issues, and user-access problems before they become routine incidents.
In cyber security, hypercare matters because go-live is a high-risk moment: logging, alerts, identity controls, integrations, and endpoint policies may not behave exactly as planned. Security teams often use hypercare to watch for failed authentications, unusual privilege changes, broken detections, and misrouted data. Attackers may target this window because rushed changes and temporary workarounds can create weak controls. A strong hypercare plan includes clear owners, rapid rollback options, heightened monitoring, and a handoff from project mode to steady-state operations.
