Hygrometer

A sensor that measures humidity in the air.

A hygrometer is a sensor that measures humidity in the air. In consumer and industrial devices, it turns moisture in the environment into a digital reading that firmware can display, log, or use to drive automation. You’ll find hygrometers in weather stations, smart thermostats, clocks, HVAC controls, and other embedded systems that monitor room conditions.

In cyber security, sensors matter because they are part of the trusted input path. If a device accepts bad sensor data, attackers may trigger false alerts, skew environmental controls, or influence downstream logic. Combined with other telemetry, humidity readings can also help infer occupancy or location patterns. Defenders care about calibration, firmware integrity, and validation of sensor inputs so a device responds to real conditions rather than manipulated ones.
