A GraphQL Connection is a pagination pattern for returning lists of results in a structured way. Instead of sending one large array, a server exposes fields such as edges, nodes, cursors, and pageInfo so clients can request the next slice of data safely and predictably. This model is common in API designs that need stable pagination for feeds, search results, or large object collections.
From a security perspective, Connection fields matter because they are a real request path into backend data handling. Attackers often probe paginated endpoints to find overly large responses, authorization mistakes, cursor tampering, or unsafe object handling in resolvers. Defenders should treat Connection resolvers like any other exposed interface: enforce access control, limit page sizes, validate cursors, and avoid deserializing untrusted input while building results. When implemented carefully, Connections reduce load and improve usability; when implemented carelessly, they can widen the attack surface.
