A GPU server is a server built around graphics processing units (GPUs) rather than only general-purpose CPUs. GPUs are optimized for parallel workloads, so these systems are common in AI training, inference, data analytics, and high-performance computing. Because they are powerful and expensive, GPU servers are often treated as sensitive infrastructure and inventory.
In cyber security, GPU servers matter in two ways: they can be high-value targets, and they can support offensive or defensive operations. Attackers may steal, resell, or misuse them to run large-scale password cracking, malware analysis, or AI-assisted automation. Defenders protect them with access control, asset tracking, secure provisioning, and chain-of-custody records. In controlled hardware markets, the paperwork around a GPU server can be as important as the machine itself, especially when export restrictions or end-user checks apply.
