Gems is Google’s name for personalized AI experiences that can be configured for specific tasks. Instead of starting from a blank chat each time, a Gem can bundle instructions, preferred behavior, and sometimes reusable context so the assistant responds in a more focused way.
In cyber security, that matters because these task-specific assistants can become part of real workflows: phishing triage, log analysis, policy drafting, code review, or incident response support. The security question is not only what the model says, but what instructions it follows and what data or tools it can reach. If a Gem is misconfigured, it may expose sensitive prompts, leak internal information into responses, or be tricked into unsafe actions through prompt injection or malicious input. Defenders should review Gem instructions, limit connected permissions, and treat shared Gems like other managed software assets with change control and testing.
