Fluid simulation

A numerical method for estimating how liquids or gases move over time.

Fluid simulation is a numerical method for estimating how liquids or gases move over time. It divides the flow into small regions or particles, then calculates how pressure, velocity, turbulence, and boundaries change from one step to the next. The result is an approximation, not a direct measurement, but it can be accurate enough for engineering and security planning.

In cyber security, fluid simulation matters whenever physical conditions affect the availability or safety of systems. Teams use it to study airflow in server rooms, smoke spread in facilities, coolant behavior in hardware, or the movement of hazardous gases in industrial sites. Defenders use those models to improve ventilation, fire suppression, sensor placement, and incident response. Attackers or red-teamers may also use the same analysis to understand how a physical disturbance could disrupt critical systems.
