Fintech

Financial technology services that support digital payments, wallets, or online banking.

Fintech, or financial technology, refers to services and platforms that deliver digital payments, mobile wallets, online banking, lending, and related financial operations. In practice, fintech companies sit between users and money movement systems, so they often combine software, identity checks, and payment rails in one service.

In cyber security, fintech matters because it is a high-value target for fraud, account takeover, API abuse, and laundering. Attackers may open or buy verified accounts, misuse wallet features, or move funds through multiple transfers to hide origin. Defenders use controls such as KYC, multi-factor authentication, transaction monitoring, device and behavior analysis, velocity limits, and anomaly detection to spot suspicious activity before it becomes financial loss.
