Enterprise integration is the process of connecting AI systems to business applications, data sources, and workflows so they can retrieve information, create tickets, send messages, or trigger approved actions. In security terms, this turns an AI model from a standalone tool into part of the enterprise control plane. Once integrated, the system inherits real permissions, real data access, and real operational risk.
This matters because every connector expands the attack surface. Weak identity controls, over-privileged API tokens, or poorly scoped workflow access can let an attacker abuse the AI path to read sensitive data or execute unintended actions. Defenders reduce this risk with least privilege, approval checkpoints, audit logging, sandboxed tool use, and clear boundaries around what the AI may touch and change.
