An enterprise agent is an AI system built to carry out business workflows using company tools, data, and approved actions. Unlike a simple chatbot, it can query internal systems, update records, route tickets, or trigger other services. In security terms, that makes it part assistant, part operator, and part privileged software component.
Enterprise agents matter because their value comes from access. If permissions are too broad, an attacker may abuse prompt injection, social engineering, or workflow manipulation to make the agent reveal data or perform actions it should not. Defenders reduce that risk with least privilege, human approval for sensitive steps, strong logging, and task-scoped tool access. In real environments, these controls are essential when agents handle support, HR, IT help desk, or financial workflows, where a mistake can become a data leak or unauthorized change.
