Endpoint security platform

Software that protects laptops, servers, and other endpoints with detection, prevention, and response controls.

An endpoint security platform is software that protects laptops, servers, and other endpoints using detection, prevention, and response controls. It often combines antivirus, endpoint detection and response (EDR), device policy, host firewalling, telemetry, and alerting into one managed layer. Security teams rely on it to see what is happening on a device and to stop malicious activity before it spreads.

This matters because endpoints are common entry points for phishing, malware, and lateral movement. Attackers may try to disable the platform, exploit a flaw in it, or tamper with its updates so they can hide processes, suppress alerts, or reduce visibility. Defenders treat the platform as high-value infrastructure: they patch it quickly, verify fleet-wide updates, enable tamper protection, and monitor for loss of telemetry or protection status. If the control layer fails, detection and response across the environment can weaken fast.
