Endpoint Configuration

Settings that control where an application sends or receives network data.

Endpoint configuration is the set of application settings that define where network data is sent or received. An endpoint can be a server URL, IP address, port, API path, or local service address used by an app to upload transcripts, fetch commands, sync data, or relay events. In security terms, this configuration is part of the trust boundary: it decides which destination the software believes is legitimate.

It matters because attackers who can change an endpoint may redirect traffic to an attacker-controlled service, intercept sensitive content, or inject malicious data into a trusted workflow. In real attacks, this often appears as user-level malware, tampered config files, registry changes, or altered environment variables. Defenses include locking down configuration files, validating destinations with certificates or allowlists, detecting unexpected endpoint changes, and requiring user confirmation for high-impact network actions. Treat endpoint settings as integrity-sensitive, not just convenience options.
