The European External Action Service (EEAS) is the EU body that supports foreign and security policy and hosts INTCEN, the EU’s civilian intelligence analysis center. It acts as a coordination and policy layer, moving sensitive information between EU institutions and member states under strict rules.
In cyber security, the EEAS matters because organizations that handle diplomatic, intelligence, and classified material are high-value targets. Attackers may use phishing, credential theft, or abuse of internal access to reach sensitive mail, documents, or shared intelligence systems. Defenders focus on strong identity controls, least privilege, compartmentalization, logging, and secure retention. In practice, the EEAS is part of the trust infrastructure that determines how safely intelligence can be shared and verified.
