Digital watch

A watch that displays time electronically rather than with analog hands.

A digital watch displays time electronically instead of using analog hands. In cybersecurity, it is usually treated as ordinary consumer electronics, but its small size, battery power, and wearable form make it a useful platform for added hardware or software. A watch that looks simple may still contain radios, sensors, or custom components.

This matters because attackers and defenders both care about trust in everyday devices. A modified digital watch can be used as a stealthy carrier for payment, authentication, or data-transfer functions, blending into normal clothing and making inspection harder. On the defense side, secure device management means knowing what functions were added, how credentials are stored, and how to revoke access if the device is lost or repurposed. The security lesson is that appearance does not define capability: even a basic watch can become part of a trusted system.
