Data resilience

the capacity to keep data available and reliable during disruption.

Data resilience is the ability to keep information available, accurate, and usable during disruption. It goes beyond simple backup: resilient data can survive outages, accidental deletion, ransomware, corruption, or cloud misconfiguration and still support business operations. Common resilience controls include replication, immutable backups, integrity checks, access control, and tested recovery procedures.

In cybersecurity, data resilience matters because attackers often target data as much as systems. Ransomware may encrypt production files, insiders may alter records, and errors in automation can break pipelines or damage trust in analytics. Strong defenses aim to preserve both availability and reliability, so teams can restore clean data quickly and know it has not been tampered with. For organizations using AI or other automated workflows, resilience is critical: if the underlying data is stale, incomplete, or untrusted, the output becomes risky even when the application is running.
