Context capture is the process of collecting relevant information from documents, messages, tickets, meetings, and business applications so an AI system can understand the work it is operating on. Instead of relying on a single prompt, the system pulls in source material such as project records, CRM data, or knowledge-base entries to build a richer, more accurate view of the task.
In cyber security, context capture matters because every connector becomes a data-access path. If the system reads too broadly, it may expose sensitive records, violate least-privilege rules, or mix trusted and untrusted content. Attackers can also abuse the process through prompt injection, poisoned documents, or misleading notes that steer automation toward unsafe actions. Defenders use context capture carefully in tools like incident-response assistants and security copilots, where the goal is to ground outputs in authoritative logs, alerts, and approved case data while preserving permissions, provenance, and auditability.
