A composite material is made by combining two or more different substances, such as fibers and a resin, so the finished part has properties the base materials do not have alone. In practice, composites are used to tune strength, stiffness, weight, heat resistance, or durability for a specific job.
In cyber security, composites matter because they are common in device housings, drones, sensors, vehicles, and protective enclosures. Their structure can help reduce weight or improve resistance to wear, but it can also create security tradeoffs: some composites are easier to cut, drill, or delaminate than metal, while others need careful testing for conductivity, shielding, and fire behavior. Defenders use composites in tamper-resistant designs and secure packaging, but they still need inspection, material verification, and testing against physical attack.
