Circular energy

An energy model that aims to reuse resources and reduce waste within a local system.

Circular energy is an energy model that keeps power, heat, and other resources in local use for as long as possible. Instead of producing electricity once and discarding the byproducts, a circular setup may reuse waste heat, store surplus power, or feed energy back into nearby systems. The goal is lower waste, better efficiency, and less dependence on distant infrastructure.

In cyber security, circular energy matters because local energy systems are usually controlled by software, sensors, and remote management tools. That creates attack surface around building management, microgrids, industrial controllers, and billing or optimization platforms. An attacker who tampers with those systems can disrupt availability, raise costs, or force unsafe operating modes. Defenders therefore need strong authentication, network segmentation, logging, and fail-safe controls so the energy loop stays reliable even when one component is compromised.
