A business credit card is a payment card issued for company or professional expenses rather than personal spending. It is commonly used to buy supplies, software, travel, or services, while keeping those transactions separate from an individual’s private purchases. In security terms, that separation matters because it creates a clearer audit trail and makes suspicious spending easier to spot.
Business credit cards are often targeted in fraud, phishing, and social engineering. Attackers may try to trick employees into revealing card details, approve fake vendor charges, or misuse saved card data in card-not-present transactions. Defenses include spending limits, receipt matching, approval workflows, vendor verification, virtual card numbers, and transaction alerts. Used well, a business credit card supports both operational convenience and financial control; used poorly, it can become a fast path to unauthorized spending and data loss.
