Browser tool

A web-based interface that lets users interact with software or connected devices.

A browser tool is a web-based interface that lets a user control software, services, or connected devices from inside a browser. It may be a local dashboard, a remote admin panel, or a web app that forwards commands to another process or hardware driver.

In cyber security, browser tools matter because they often sit at the trust boundary between a person and a powerful backend. If authentication is weak, a session is stolen, or the page can reach local services it should not access, the interface can become a route to unauthorized control. Attackers may abuse exposed web consoles, while defenders must treat browser-based management as privileged access: use strong auth, least privilege, clear permission boundaries, and logging. When browser tools operate radios, cameras, industrial devices, or home automation, the security of the whole chain matters more than the page itself.
