Batch Request

A single API call that triggers multiple internal operations or subrequests.

A batch request is a single API call that triggers multiple internal operations or subrequests. Instead of sending many separate HTTP requests, a client can ask the server to process several actions in one envelope. This is useful for efficiency, but it also creates a security boundary: each subrequest still needs its own authentication, authorization, and validation.

In cyber security, batch handling matters because one weakness can multiply impact. If a batch wrapper skips permission checks, an attacker may reach privileged actions that should be blocked, such as changing settings or creating accounts. Defenders should treat batch routes as high risk, require explicit permission callbacks for every subrequest, and fail closed on malformed input. Monitoring unusual bursts of write operations or nested requests can also help detect abuse.
