A bartop arcade is a compact arcade cabinet built to sit on a table, counter, or bar. It usually combines a small display, controls, speakers, and a lightweight enclosure, often running emulator software or a small embedded computer. In security terms, it is less like a toy and more like a kiosk: a physical system with input devices, storage, and sometimes network access.
Bartop arcade builds matter in cyber security because public or semi-public hardware is easy to tamper with. Attackers may plug in USB devices, reset the machine, alter game images, or abuse weak admin passwords if the system is not locked down. Defenders treat them like other exposed endpoints: disable unnecessary services, restrict ports, use secure boot or signed images, and protect the enclosure so casual access does not become system access.
