Auditable logs

Records that preserve what action happened, when it happened, and which identity or permission was used.

Auditable logs are records of system activity that capture what happened, when it happened, and which user, service, or permission was involved. Useful logs include enough detail to reconstruct actions and their sequence, while protecting sensitive information and resisting unauthorized alteration.

In cybersecurity, these records support investigations, compliance, and detection of suspicious behavior. For AI agents, logs can show which tools an agent called, what actions it attempted, and under whose authority—helping distinguish legitimate work from misuse or error. Centralized collection, access controls, reliable timestamps, and tamper-resistant storage make logs more trustworthy. Logging does not prevent an attack by itself, but it helps teams identify its scope and hold systems and operators accountable.
