Article 14

The CRA provision that covers vulnerability and incident reporting.

Article 14 is the Cyber Resilience Act provision that sets the rules for vulnerability and incident reporting for products with digital elements. It tells manufacturers when they must report serious security issues, what kind of information must be included, and how quickly they must escalate. In practice, this turns product security into a formal response process rather than an informal support task.

The article matters because attackers often exploit known flaws before vendors can patch them. A company that can detect active exploitation, assess impact, preserve evidence, and submit a timely report is better able to limit harm and meet legal duties. Defenders use Article 14 to build triage workflows, connect security teams with legal and product owners, and route notifications through the proper reporting channel. It is both a compliance requirement and an operational test of incident readiness.
