Alexa+

Amazon's AI assistant service, now offered on Fire TV devices without a Prime or Alexa+ subscription requirement.

Alexa+ is Amazon’s AI assistant service, delivered through cloud processing and tied to a signed-in Amazon account. On Fire TV devices, it can be used for voice control, search, and account-linked actions through either wake-word detection or a voice remote. In this context, the important change is the access rule: the feature is available on Fire TV without requiring a Prime or Alexa+ subscription there.

From a cybersecurity perspective, Alexa+ matters because voice assistants concentrate identity, permissions, and privacy controls in one place. If an attacker gains access to the associated account or abuses connected services, they may be able to issue commands, change settings, or expose data through the assistant layer. Defenses are straightforward: verify which account is attached, review connected services and permissions, and disable voice input when it is not needed.
