An AI server is a high-performance computer built to train or run machine learning models. It usually combines powerful CPUs, one or more GPUs or other accelerators, large memory, fast storage, and high-bandwidth networking so it can process data quickly and at scale.
In cyber security, AI servers matter because they are valuable, sensitive assets in both data centers and supply chains. Attackers may target them to steal expensive hardware, divert controlled components, or use them for unauthorized model training and inference. Defenders treat them as part of the security perimeter: they verify buyers and destinations, track serial numbers, enforce access controls, and monitor configuration changes. In advanced environments, a misplaced AI server can create both a compliance issue and a security risk, especially when export controls, resellers, or third-party logistics are involved.
