An AI Overview is a machine-generated summary shown in Google Search to answer or synthesize a query. It combines information from multiple sources and presents it before the user reaches the underlying pages. In security work, that matters because the summary is not the source record: it can omit context, merge unrelated facts, or reflect outdated information.
Attackers can try to influence these summaries through SEO poisoning, misleading content, or pages designed to be copied into search answers. Defenders and investigators use AI Overviews as a quick lead, but they verify claims against original documents, cached copies, and source pages. When evidence needs to be reproducible, a plain-link search view is safer than relying on a synthesized answer.
